Terms of Use

We are legally advised to have, and do so have, the following Terms of Use.

You agree that use of our Website, and all follow-on, including any blogs and chats, and all advices, comments and interactions with all contacts, directly or howsoever indirectly arising therefrom, or otherwise, orally or in writing, and use of any premises and/or meeting rooms and access thereto and therefrom, and all meetings and matters arising therefrom, and statements made, as associated with us, are entirely without liability to us, our directors, employees, agents and all related persons, and are the responsibility of you, the user and/or visitor, or any third party and all responsibility must be, and is thereby and hereby disclaimed. It is a pre-condition of use of all of our services that respect and sensitivity is extended to all parties and that no person will write or speak ill of any other service or website user or related person. We are a mutual support body for the benefit of us all.

We hereby make a similar disclaimer in respect of use of various electronic and other means of communication, including Whatsapp and any derivatives, and all platforms of communication, visual, aural and/or otherwise, which may be established and used by users of our services and/or others but which are unrelated to us and/or over which we have no control.

As a mutually-supportive body, we reserve the right to ask any person who makes comments or expresses views which are reasonably deemed by the convenor, in person and/or electronically, to be offensive to any person, present or not, to leave a meeting and/or as applicable, to remove from a meeting, or to silence or remove electronically as applicable, any such person. Notwithstanding this provision, attendance at meetings, in person and/or electronically, is subject to acknowledgement of the possibility of such behaviour.

Security

We care about your security online. However, we do not have internet security systems, essentially for reasons of cost, and we cannot guarantee that unauthorised third parties will not be able to access our information and we must disclaim any responsibility if this happens. Accordingly, you must provide in every way possible to keep your information, and that of others, secure. It is further a condition of attendance at meetings that no contact will be made with attendees or other parties outside meetings, unless so agreed at a meeting.

Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless LifeRing Ireland and our directors, employees and agents, against any claims or related costs in any way, directly or indirectly, howsoever arising, relating to use of our services by you or any person associated with your use of our Services or our website. This indemnity includes any comments on any social medium, including, for example, Whatsapp. We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to try to disconnect an online connection, or mute a contribution, or to stop any live meeting comments that are deemed to be inappropriate.

Disclaimers

Our Services, and access to our website, and any spin-offs, are provided in good faith and on the basis that there will be proper input by you and follow-on by you. LifeRing Ireland cannot, and does not, provide a warranty or guarantee of desired results, expressed or implied and disclaims all responsibility in all matters.

General Terms

LifeRing Ireland reserves the right to send notifications to you electronically and to revise these Terms from time to time. The current Terms will be online. By continuing to access or use the Services after any revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by any and all such revised Terms.

Intellectual Property Rights

All knowledge, expertise and intellectual property of LifeRing Ireland received, directly or indirectly by you or third parties, belongs to and remain entirely owned by LifeRing Ireland and you warrant to LifeRing Ireland, it’s directors, employees, agents and all related persons your agreement to this provision. You agree that you have and will have no entitlement, legal, beneficial, moral or otherwise, to any such intellectual property. For the avoidance of doubt, any such potentially contested rights are hereby waived by you. You agree to regard as solely personal to you all such intellectual property and you agree to reasonably compensate LifeRing Ireland for all losses, direct and indirect, arising from any breaches of this condition. This clause includes all documents in whatever form which contain such information, including any information provided online, on any LifeRing Ireland website or otherwise, and all original documents will, on request of LifeRing Ireland, be immediately returned to LifeRing Ireland on termination of the Services, without being reproduced by you or through you, intentionally or otherwise. In the interest of clarity, you may not republish material received from LifeRing Ireland or on our website; or sell, rent or sub-license such material; show any such material in public; reproduce, duplicate, copy or otherwise exploit material on our website for a commercial purpose; or edit or otherwise modify any such material other than solely for purposes as provided in these Terms.

Costs

Use of this website is free of charge.

Confidentiality

These Terms are personal to you, and may not be transferred to any other person and, in consideration thereof, you undertake not to use or give to any person any confidential information arising from engagement of LifeRing Ireland’s services and you agree to use your best endeavours to prevent the publication or disclosure to any third parties of any information concerning such matters without our prior written agreement. By using LifeRing services, you agree that all meetings related to LifeRing, whether online, in person, or otherwise are strictly confidential to the participants thereto and that no matters will be discussed that might reasonably be deemed to reduce the standing of any person in the eyes of third parties, and you indemnify LifeRing and our directors, employees, agents and all related persons therein.

Meetings

All participants at meetings are expected to act in the knowledge that LifeRing is a not-for-profit voluntary organisation of people offering and receiving mutual support in respect of addictions to alcohol and/or medications and/or gambling and that, accordingly, it is necessary that we treat all other attendees at meetings with respect. In the unlikely event of perceived breaches of this expectation, the convenor of a meeting is entitled to ask an attendee to leave a meeting. The convenor may close a meeting where the said attendee does not leave the meeting when so requested. LifeRing Ireland will seek input from the said attendee before deciding on whether the attendee should attend future meetings following consideration of invited input from the said attendee.
In the interest of all attendees at meetings, the Board of LifeRing is entitled to deny right of entry to future meetings from seven days following the said attendee being invited to comment on relevant issues, until the Board may decide otherwise, in the interests of other attendees at meetings of LifeRing.

Severability

If any provision of these Terms is deemed invalid by court order, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary and the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in full force and effect.

Waiver

If we waive or do not enforce some of the terms of these Terms to any parties, this will not be deemed a continuing waiver of such term or any other term of these Terms to any party or an entitlement to any waiver to any other parties.

Termination

We may terminate or suspend your right to access or use our services and/or website for any reasonable reason on reasonable and appropriate notice by whatever reasonable means is available to us. Such notice will not require standard of service of legal notices, because inter alia this may not be available to us. We may terminate or suspend your access immediately and without notice in the interest of orderly meetings of LifeRing participants if we believe that we have good reason, including any violation of these Terms, Where possible, we seek the written comments of any affected user of LifeRing before any such termination or suspension of right to use LifeRing services, including attendance at meetings, is decided.
Irrespective of how termination arises, these Terms, other than where clearly not applicable, continue indefinitely.

Law

These Terms shall be governed by the laws of Ireland.
